The Personal and the Political.

This video expresses so much of my views on the state of politics right now.
We need a real shift in Politics, based on values of understanding, compassion, tolerance and Love.

Loneliness / Solitude

“Loneliness is black coffee and late night television; Solitude is herb tea and soft music. Solitude, quality solitude, is an assertion of self - worth, because only in the stillness can we hear the truth of our own unique voices.”

Grenoble, France

Picasso

Tom Wesselman 'The bedroom painting'
snow capped Grenoble

On Saturday the 5th of November 2011 i took a class trip to Grenoble. The town is the south east of France. We went out there to see the art at Musee de Gronable. It was breathtaking to say the least, the house art from different centuries through to modern art and contemporary art. The city impressed me the most, its the most glorious combination of city and mountains. Our  French teacher took us to his house for coffee and he lives in what seems like a haven of life, great views and art.

A way of life.

Geneva, Switzerland.

Geneva's charm hits you almost as you enter the city.
It was exciting being at one of the world centers of International Diplomacy
I made an appointment to see the United Nations
almost immediately.
What else stands as the monument of world diplomacy,i had to be there. I  have to admit that UN is not what is should be right now,
but its potential and existence gives me hope
Hope for a mutual dialog and understanding not as axis of power politics.
Geneva is all things a great city should be,good food,a taste for fine things
and dare i say it

Politics

"Do your politics fit between the headlines,

are they written in newsprint, are they distant?

mine are crossing an empty parking lot,

they are a woman walking home, at night, alone…"

-ani difranco

Love your Life

"Far too many of us pin the hopes of our Happiness to another person. We really feel that if this person ever left us there would be no way for us to ever feel joy. But real Happiness comes from within. It is a gift we must give ourselves. Trying to place the responsibility on the shoulders of a loved one, is a burden that can not be carried by anyone.
Love your life and it will Love you back."

This is still my favourite ad.

Let go...

"I think of the trees and how simply they let go, let fall the riches of season, how without grief they can let go and go deep into their roots for renewal"

May Sarton “Journal of a Solitude

Sartorial Sounds

"Sartorial Sounds integrates both music and style, two elements embedded in every culture past and present. We think it's important to remember that everyone is an artist in their own right. And it's the life experiences we encounter that provoke what we splash on our own blank canvas. We assembled seven individuals to partake in this editorial. The finished product incorporates their individual talents such as spoken word, rapping, singing and tap.

remake/ recast

I want there to be a place in the world where people can engage in one another’s differences in a way that is redemptive, full of hope and possibility.
Not this “In order to love you, I must make you something else”.
That’s what domination is all about, that in order to be close to you, I must possess you, remake and recast you.”
― bell hooks, Reel To Real: Race, Sex, and Class at the Movies

A Path

“If I were really asked to define myself, I wouldn’t start with race; I wouldn’t start with blackness; I wouldn’t start with gender; I wouldn’t start with feminism.
I would start with stripping down to what fundamentally informs my life, which is that I’m a seeker on the path.
I think of feminism, and I think of anti-racist struggles as part of it.
But where I stand spiritually is, steadfastly, on a path about Love.”

Stand up

I, with a deeper instinct, choose a man who compels my strength, who makes enormous demands on me, who does not doubt my courage or my toughness, who does not believe me naive or innocent, who has the courage to treat me like a woman.
Anaïs Nin

Leaving Home

"Leave your country in search of loftiness and travel! For in travel there are five benefits: Relief of adversity, earning of livelihood, knowledge, etiquettes, and noble companionship."

Imam As-Shafi’i

Living in Lyon

Leaving home has predicatively being a life changing experience. For the first time in my life I am far away from all the comforts of family and friendships. I moved to Lyon, France a month ago to do my MA. Lyon is a gorgeous city and I fell in Love with the streets long before I met her people. This is home for now and I am slowly finding new comforts.

Start

Exist!

Ideals

The French Riviera

I have been looking forward to a trip to the French coatline since i got my travelling shoes. It was everything i wanted it to be and much more. We went to Ville French an amazing beach just outside Nice, its a tourist haven. Its an imposing type of beauty, the kind thats in movies and postcards.
When you drean you go there.
Then the unimaginable happened and i was lucky enough to see a place that has been my ultimate spot on earth, Monte Carlo, Monaco. To describe that day in words will be a book worth of words, you would never put down. Downright Gorgeous!

Purity.

"Be fearless and pure; never waver in your determination or your dedication to the spiritual life. Give freely.
Be self-controlled, sincere, truthful, Loving, and full of the desire to serve..
Learn to be detached and to take joy in renunciation.
Do not get angry or harm any living creature, but be compassionate and gentle; show good will to all.
Cultivate vigor, patience, will, purity; avoid malice and pride. Then, you will achieve your destiny."

My Space

The talented Mr Bennett.

"We are so much better than the desk jobs and the childhood fears we chain ourselves to.

Believe me.

There's an opera in your chest right now, its melody is the key to your ribs, that you've been looking for for all this time.

So, sing it like a vow, like it's a theme song

To the best day of your life."
