Happenstance
Sometimes I remind myself that I almost skipped the party, that I almost went to a different college, that the whim of a minute could have changed everything and everyone. Our lives, so settled, so specific, are built on happenstance.

Service Station/ Love Books
Somewhere in the middle of Melville are
people who know my spirit.
Wall to wall bookshelves, the book scent,
readers and food. I’ve spent some great
winter nights listening to writers talk about how they chose the words they on paper, drinking wine having cheese and soup. If you are in Jo’burg
and these sounds like your flavour get yourself on the Love Books e-mail list, it
is fun stuff. Otherwise grab breakfast at the Service Station any given day.

Sisterhood
My sister Sibulele, Machaka and her sister Melita, drenched in Love and winter
sun at Collective Market 02/August/2014
We are the lucky ones.
Breakfast /Bottega
This is just a minor homage to one of my favourite spots in
Jo’burg, because it’s long overdue and they deserve it.
Breakfast and everything else will always be
at Bottega. I like many other places but in a “ching chong cha” Bottega trumps
most things because
a)
Food is delicious ( breakfast as above, lunch –try
burgers, ribs, dinner fillet porcini
b)
They are friendly (these guys once passed a Love
letter to a crush for me,-I was young and wild- and that’s an excuse J )
c)
Wine is great (many, many blotto texts )
d)
Ambiance (might we be in Italy? Nah, not really,
but it is the thought that counts)
e)
Food is delicious (Trust!)
